RELATIVE CLAUSES - exercises with answers (grammar practice)


That's the man who lives next door to us. His wife's got a shop which sells all kinds of bags. The little dog that's in the garden is hers.

A relative clause is a part of a sentence. We use relative clauses to say which person or thing we are talking about or to give more information about it.

• We use who to talk about people
That's the man who lives next door to us.

• We use which to talk about things or animals:
His wife's got a shop which sells all kinds of bags.
They've got a black cat which sleeps on our garage roof.

• We use that to talk about people, things or animals:
I met a boy that knows your brother. 
Where's the key that was on my desk?
The little dog that's in the garden is hers.

1. Circle the correct answer.
