Quando vamos preparar ou adaptar uma aula, precisamos conhecer o perfil dos alunos e da escola. Pensando nisso, adaptei dentro do contexto da escola pública brasileira uma aula que visa oferecer possibilidades de se construir significados através da prática da leitura. 

LEITURA PRÉVIA 

Ative o conhecimento prévio dos alunos em relação:

• ao conhecimento de mundo: explore o título, figuras, autor, fonte (peça que observem a imagem e a descrevam, que leiam o título e tentem compreender do que se trata, anotando suas ideias);
• a organização textual: explore itens lexicais (chame atenção para o gênero textual "notícia", levante que tipo de vocabulário e estrutura poderão encontrar no texto);
• situação do texto: identificação de quem é o autor, o leitor virtual, quando e onde publicado e com que propósito (a quais interesse serve), evidenciando a leitura como uma prática sóciointeracional. 

LEITURA

1- Apresente aos alunos um texto curto. 
Exemplo com texto autêntico:

"A dog couldn't move for days underground. It was in a pipe for five days. The exit was blocked. The dog's owner was very stressed. People used a big machine. They wanted to make a hole. Firemen helped too. They used a machine and they made a big hole. The hole was 3 metres deep. It took six hours to make this hole. Then one man went down into the pipe. He came back and he was holding the dog. It was a very nice moment. This story has a happy end."

Interesting words: pipe (tube for water or gas), owner (person who has something).

• Leiam juntos o primeiro parágrafo e peça que grifem todas as palavras/ideias que entendem (não as que NÃO entendem). Anote-as na lousa e discuta as interpretações/compreensões. Apresente as palavras que eles poderiam entender também  através da análise do contexto e por deduções e comparações entre a língua materna e a estrangeira. Em último caso, é possível consultar um dicionário
• Saliente que nesse primeiro momento os alunos devem buscar por palavras que são chave para o entendimento da frase, aquelas sem as quais seria impossível compreender o texto;
• Após a leitura coletiva, a fim de compreenderem o procedimento, oriente que façam o mesmo (em duplas, ou trios, como preferir) com os demais parágrafos;
• Circule pela sala auxiliando quanto ao procedimento e tire dúvidas, mas deixe que eles tentem entender o texto sem o seu auxílio. 
• Para finalizar essa etapa, como lição de casa, peça que registrem, com suas palavras, em português, o que entenderam do texto (individualmente, para fim de avaliação). 

2 - Apresente aos alunos dois novos textos sobre o mesmo assunto. 

• Retome com a turma o texto lido na aula anterior e certifique-se do entendimento geral do texto;
• Recapitule os procedimentos usados anteriormente para desenvolvimento de duas novas atividades com dois textos maiores.

"A dog was stuck for days underground. The dog was trapped for five days in a pipe. The exit was blocked by waste. Above ground, the dog's owner was very stressed. She hired a big machine to cut the dog free.

Also, firemen helped her. They used the big machine and other tools to dig down eight feet to get to the pipe. Cutting through it took six hours. A man was sent into the pipe and he returned and was holding the little dog. It was the moment everybody was hoping for.

The digging left the car park a little bit messed up but this story did have a happy ending."

Interesting words: trapped (caught), dig (make a hole in the ground).

"Dazed after days stuck underground, Lulu back in her owners arms, bleary-eyed after being starved of light. For five days she was trapped in a drainage pipe, her exit blocked by rubble, surviving on just a trickle of water.

Above ground her owner Gina Kaiser was frantic, unable to get help. So she hired a JCB to cut Lulu free. Then Buckingham fire service stepped in. They used the JCB, cutting equipment, spades and shovels to dig down eight feet to get to the pipe. Cutting through took six hours.

Then they sent in rescuer Pete Skinner. And the moment everyone was hoping for. The digging may have left the car park in a bit of a mess but at least this story has a happy ending."

Interesting words: dazed (confused), bleary-eyed (unable to see very cleary), drainage (waste), trickle (very small stream), JCB (large machine for digging and moving earth).

AVALIAÇÃO

Durante a realização das atividades em sala de aula, observe a participação de todos. Atente para a capacidade de cada aluno responder as perguntas de compreensão do texto.
